Strategy to Enhance Emergency Interconnected Operation of Water Distribution System

This study identified the causes of insufficient emergency interconnected operation (EIO) performance, such as pressure-related problems and connection caused by elevation differences between blocks, characteristics locations interconnection pipes (EIPs), pumps. Then, it tested four strategies to improve EIO including increasing EIP diameter or installing additional EIPs, pressure reducing valves (PRVs), The advanced pressure-driven analysis model was applied quantify performance improvement achieved using these strategies. Further, were in a real water distribution system. To solve low-pressure problem, increased an pump installed; former did not significantly improve, whereas latter improved supply 20–30%. high-pressure PRVs installed maintain effectively. problems, new EIPs installed.
